Railway Bridge
The Ethelfleda Railway Bridge was the first built of the three bridges and opened in 1868. Before this the river was crossed by ferry.
Road Bridge
Constructed due to increasing road traffic, the Jubilee Runcorn-Widnes Road Bridge opened in 1961. The Transporter Bridge was then closed.
Transporter Bridge
Operating from 1905 to 1961, this magnificent structure suspended a ‘Transporter Car’ above the water which was hoisted from shore to shore.
