Widnes Dock was based here, but by the 1970s it was opened by the Queen as a nature park.

The prom was a popular place for West Bankers to meet, spend sunny afternoons or gaze out over the Mersey.

The Mersey shore and sands were a well used playgrounds for West Bankers in years gone by.
Trips away
Week long holidays were often too expensive and required too much time off work so many day trips were arranged.

Victoria Gardens houses the bandstand which was built in Commemoration of Queen Victoria.
